Help!
We've recently discovered that a spider living in our home is
radioactive, and if he bites someone, they will have the ability to
crawl on ceilings, shoot webs from their hands, and generally fight crime.
We're in a bit of a quandry here. I've traced this spider's lineage
and it is a direct descendant of a spider that lived in ancient Persia
and was Haman's pet. That would make this an Amalekite spider, and
I should be obligated to kill it l'halacha.
However, I also remember reading on this list that spiders are our
freinds. They helped save Dovid HaMelech. And it is best not to kill them
if possible.
Also, since I don't have a home security system, I think a radioactive
spider might really be good to have around. So must I kill it?
Furthermore, if my radioactive spider bites my husband on shabbos,
does my husband become muktza? Could I squish my husband on shabbos or
do I have to wait until after shabbos to kill him?
By the way, if you happen so see my spider crawling around the neighborhood,
please let me know. He tends to escape through the bathroom drain.
Answers to the name "Itsy-Bitsy".
